Hello everyone,
I feel like I have been disowning my blog. But I was heading back to school and you have to know your priorities in order to succeed in life. Just a little example of the work I am being swamped with, I have two midterms on Tuesday as well as a quiz that I need to read two short stories on in English as well as studying for another English test on the 1st of October and a History test that should be following close by. I hope that I would be able to post at least one blog per month God willing. I'm actually at work writing this and I am leaving in 5 minutes. lol. So I will do my best to keep you all up-to-date and entertained.
Ciao!!

***PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT***
Hello readers,
As you may know, I live in New York but what you may not know is that I live on Long Island. A wealthy man named Charles Wang is looking to renovate the Nassau Coliseum to create a new one along with a baseball field and other things. At first, this may seem like an excellent idea but like all good things, there is a catch. Mr. Wang is looking to have the tax payers pay for the new coliseum.
These are some of the few reasons that letting this proposal pass is not in the interest of Nassau tax payers:
- there will be a property tax increase for 30 years
- the hockey team, The Islanders, are ranked 25 out of 30 according to ESPN (not good)
- Charles Wang does not need to use tax payers money in order to renovate the new coliseum
As you can see there are many reasons this proposal should not pass. I am not a random person who dislikes Charles Wang because he donated a building to my college. He is a good man but allowing tax payers to pay for something that may not seem too beneficial for homeowners and people who live on Long Island, may not seem like a good idea.
The only thing I ask of people who live here is to look at the pros and cons of the situation before you come to a full decision. I am Pro-Community and in this case, it is not beneficial. Once again, weigh the pros and cons before you make your decision.

Questions
Hi everyone!
It's currently 12:28am. Normally I would be asleep but things have been running through mind all day. They are questions that everyone wonders and I decided how about I post some of them. So here goes:
1- What do you do in a case of heartbreak?
2- Forgive or Forget?
3- How do you get your opinion understood?
4- Why do people act certain ways?
5- Why are people's maturity levels so different?
6- What do you do when you are positive you are being lied to but have no proof?
7- What do you do when you're mad to control yourself?
8- How long will it be until you are truly happy with life?
Yes. These are random questions but it makes you think what you would do in these situations and how you would handle them. Just some things running through my head at such a random time.

Deception
Hi everyone,
I'm at work and I have 14 minutes left so I'm going to attempt to make this entire post with such little amount of time so excuse the grammatical and spelling errors that I'm sure would be filled in this post. This may seem like a rant and go all over the place too.... maybe it is. Haha.
-Yanika
----------------------------------------------------
So, I've been thinking a lot about how far people would go to lie. It is something that most people do no matter what. It's like second nature to us. If something we don't want people to know, we lie. Something we need to get, we lie. Is there ever a time where we could just tell the truth because we think of the other person that it might hurt?
Let's say you are looking for a relationship but a man is looking for.... let's say other things. What exactly would you prefer? Would you rather the deception, or the cold truth? Most woman would say, "I would rather the truth than being lied to" when they know they would be offended and that it is not the case. It all depends on the situation. Now let's go back to the above example. Most men in their 20s are not looking for a relationship until their late 20s early 30s while most woman are constantly looking for one. This causes the deception that goes on when men persue women. In order to get exactly what they want, they pin-point what the woman desires. All it takes is a woman to hear the right words and a man will get almost anything they are looking for. Now of course it would be harder for men if they told the truth and said, "Hey. You look hot. Is it ok if we hooked up?" I guarantee that most women would kick them where it hurts or walk off offended. The truth of the matter is there are some women who are looking for that type of relationship too. Men would only need to find them. The point of the matter is that it is difficult for both men and women to get exactly what they want without being deceived. There's no way around it. The two wants are completely different and that causes the big debate whether you should lie or be blunt and tell the truth.
I for one thing am and upfront person. Tell me what it is; no sugar coating, no lies and no halfway truths. Though you may get turned down, it is better to just tell the truth in the first place. You never know when it will come back and bite you in the... you know where.

Working
Good Morning fellow readers,
Sorry for the delay in my blog posts. I've been really busy attempting to integrate myself into the working community. I now work as a secretary at a local middle school and it is really interesting. For now, there is a lot of down time, but when we are put to work, we WORK. I also have a second job at a store called Little Miss Matched. For those of you reading this post who live in the Florida region, those who live in New York City, those who shop at JC Penny, Toys R' Us, those who have been to Disney World, have seen Little Miss Matched products. Our company basically focuses on the irony of mismatching socks. Not only do we sell different types of mismatched socks (like knee-highs, anklets, liners, toe socks, flip flop socks etc.) we also sell t-shirts, sweat shirts, dresses, flip-flops, hand bags, coin purses, toys, bedding and room decor. Our store is appealing to not only young girls, but teens, older women and we are soon getting a mens line up and running as well. (For more info about this store click on the Little Miss Matched link at the end of this post.)
Now working may seem like a big hassle or you may even find it fun. But working is a way to assimilate into the world of adulthood. Everyone looks for a job but may not have their dream job. Dream jobs do not come and go with the snap of your fingers. What you need to do is start off small like an internship opportunity and gradually get bigger and bigger until you have reached where you wanted to be. Internships are a big part of a persons working career. An intership provides people with experience not only to learn what they would like to do in the near future, but it also allows people to gain knowledge on different work ethics, different work styles and it also provides a hands-on insight into the working field. Though most internships may not be paid, if you write on your resume that you have interned for a corporation, it will push you a few steps ahead of your competition.
With that being said, I have an internship position that will be available in my next blog post. Everything will be posted about it including a job description, benefits and qualifications.
Stay tuned for my next blog post. Sayonara...

Interracial Dating
What if you walked down the street and you saw this couple?
Or better yet, what if you saw this couple?
Interracial dating seems to be the new trend over the years and seem to be increasing as time goes on. On the U.S. Census website, they have many statistics about interracial marriages. It shows that from 1980-2002, there have been a significant increase in couples who are interracial whether black and white, Hispanic and black, Hispanic and white, Asian and black, etc. From the statistics given, it is probably likely that the trend would continue increasing in this day and age.
Even though the statistics show that there are a number of American inhabitants that are interracial, there are many others that are against this type of mixing. I can think of a few reasons one would be anti-interracial dating. One might say that they are going to lose their culture. By marrying or dating a outside their culture, a person can be influenced to forget their family history and/or background. Some people feel that it is a threat against traditions that they are used to. For example, a Middle Eastern man does not celebrate Christmas while a white American might and this would cause conflict. Another reason one might claim to be anti-interracial would be because they feel that a person dating or marrying outside their race is unconsciously turning their backs and looking down upon their own race. Those with this view feel that people who are interracial dating feel as if they could not find anyone within their race good enough for them.
My opinion on the topic is pro-interracial couples. My view on this subject is that whatever makes you happy you should go for it. There will be obstacles for an interracial couple to face, but if they love each other and their bond is strong, nothing should be able to compromise that; they would be able to work through the difficulties. I believe that being against interracial dating could close off a persons options for true love and give them a small chance to find their "perfect" match. As a rebuttal for the issues that people who are anti-interracial couples might give, there are always ways to solve those issues. For example, to preserve a persons culture, you can go to church, you can see family and you could even visit the country of that culture. Another example of working past the conflicts interracial dating/marriage might cause would be to observe Christmas and Ramadan another year or a Muslim and a Christian. Being able to compromise would be a big way to reduce the conflict interracial dating and/or marriages can produce.
At the end of the day, dating is between the two people in the relationship. If they do not see a problem with it, neither should anyone on the outside looking in.

Younger Brother's Prom
Today has been a BUSY day for me. Today was my younger brother's prom. He and his date looked adorable together and I just wanted to dedicate this post to him. I am so very proud of the things he has done (not to mention he has gotten his Eagle Scout Award and he is a scholar athlete). I hope once he reaches college he continues to excel at the things he does. He is a great person and I love him.

Israel Vs Palestine
Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu spoke today with the U.S. Congress about the peace with Palestinians. He said to Congress that they were not going to establish the pre-1967 lines that divided Palestinian grounds with Isreali grounds. In order to hopefully have long lasting peace, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that Israel will give up some of its lands and change the borders. He said it was a painful compromise, but if this is what was necessary to keep peace, then so be it.
This is a picture of what the old border and the new border is/would look like:

Vuvuzelas Can Lead to Disease
Do you remember when the World Cup came around and you would watch it on your television and say, "What is wrong with the television? That noise... What is it? It won't stop." The cause for those sounds are the Vuvuzelas. They are widely used during soccer matches and was more widely recognized during the 2010 World Cup. When you blow into the instrument, a low pitched sound plays until you cannot blow into it anymore.
According to BBC News, Dr. Ruth McNerney of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, 4 million saliva droplets per second are released when a Vuvuzela is blown compared to 7,000 per second with just shouting.
The next time you think about blowing a Vuvuzela, keep in mind the statistics. In no way, shape or form am I saying that it is not fun either. Just take precautions and be considerate of others when using a Vuvuzela.
To find out more information on the diseases and the possible banning of the Vuvuzelas in the 2012 Olympics, follow the link below:

Bottega Veneta 2012 Resort Collection
This is one of my favorite pieces from the Bottega Veneta Collection. Not only is it classy and sophisticated, but you can see that it is trendy as well. This outfit can be worn straight off the runway
to a club, to dinner, to a lounge, practically any social event. If you were fashionable enough I say
one could even wear it to the office if they had the right accessories. The simplicity of the purse and the shoes also make the outfit look appealing. Overall, the sports jacket
is what pulls the whole design together into one big mix of fabulousness.
Phew!
Hi everyone!
I've missed you all. It was finals week at my college and during finals you have to buckle down. Academics comes 1st. In the mean time, I have a lot of catching up to do. Opinion pieces need to be done, you need to be informed on politics, you need a daily dose of some of the latest collections and you need some mind stimulation. So look out and stay up to date.

Danza Kuduro!
Hola gente!
Today, I've decided to diversify my blog by adding a song that I love called "Danza Kuduro". It is by Don Omar featuring Lucenzo Letra. The song is basically a dancing song saying to raise your hands and move your head and hips. It is a very catchy song that makes you want to dance.

Chanel Resort 2012 Runway Show
Hey Guys,
I just went on to my favorite magazine (Vogue lol) and look! There are new collections up for us to view. This is the Chanel Resort 2012 line. I've chosen 4 of my favorite looks out of the entire collection.
The look to the right I especially love due to its simplicity. The loose fitting of the top and the bottom is like an effortless but chic lounge wear outfit. It is both classy and trendy at the same time and the accessories add to it perfectly.
This next piece I would wear myself. The jacket is what drew me in the first time I saw the suit. I love the metallic blue color that is on the pockets, the sleeve cuffs, the collar and the buttons. The tailoring of the jacket is a perfect fit and the 3/4 length sleeves go well with the knee length skirt. I am not necessarily a fan of the flats, but with or without them, this is still a great look.
This next dress is fabulous. I love the symmetrical look and the unique bottom gives this dress the illusion of pants as well. Another simple look that is fabulous for an awards show.

This last piece is so simple but yet so elegant. The black shoulder shawl-like top balances out the bottom pants and pulls the belt into the dresses perspective. The dresses cut is just as nice with the v-neck top elongating the models neck and the flowered belt adds embellishment.

Daddy Who? Mommy Who?
Hello everyone! As you can see by now my blog is coming together perfectly and I'm starting to get the hang of this. =]
So today I was going to talk about procrastination but as I am watching Oprah right now with my roommate, it is bringing tears to my eyes. There was a family of three that included a father, a 15-year old daughter and a 10-year old son. When the daughter and the son were on Oprah the first time, the girl was 11 and the boy was 7. Their mother and father had gotten a divorce and the mother had left. During their first interview, the little 7-year old boy said that one of the ways he tried to convince his mother to stay and not leave was to wait outside in the rain on his knees with the "sad puppy dog face" but it didn't work. The daughter at 11 said that every time she would try and see her mother, she would wear make up to make her look prettier so that her mother would like her.
This was one of the most heart-breaking things I've ever heard in my life. As the tears rolled down our cheeks, my roommate and I asked, who could ever do such a thing?! To break a child's heart with no regrets. They received no calls, no messages, no contact what-so-ever. It is ridiculous how a parent can leave a child without having contact with them at all. A parent must take responsibility for their child even if it is with a significant other they hate. It is even worse when the mother is the one that leaves rather than the father. Not only is society accustom to males that dismiss their duties as fathers, but a mother is the one that is the caregiver in the family. A mother is the nurturer of the family. For goodness sake, a mother has carried around the child for 9-months inside of them and gave birth to them. Isn't the mother supposed to feel that homeliness as soon as they give birth that says, "This is my child. I gave birth to them. I love them." For a mother not to have any emotional connection to their children is unheard of.
The raw footage of the pain and hurt that the children endure is something that no child should ever have to experience. There is no reason why either a mother or a father should not be in their child's life. A child is better off having both parents in their lives than just one. The parent does not need to force themselves to get along with the other parent, but to get to know the child and be there for them.
As I think back to the children that have to endure the thought of there parents walking out on them, I pray that they stay strong and that they are blessed.
